John Carter's Portland Stone Relief

The Portland Stone Relief (or 'paperclip sculpture' in local parlance) that is set into the façade of 40 Portman was designed by John Carter commissioned by Modus Operandi. The stone used is formed from the same materials as the building and appears to form a part of the building itself, yet it retains an independance reinforced by its skewed form.
